Beam Me Up, Sulu

After our Filmation-inspired Star Trek animations went viral, we were approached by New York-based filmmakers Timour Gregory and Sasha Schneider to create animated segments in the same style for their feature documentary Beam Me Up, Sulu, produced by Highway Child in association with Roddenberry Entertainment.

We designed 1970s Star Trek cartoon versions of the film’s subjects — including Mr. Sulu himself, George Takei — and crafted visuals by hand to help tell the story of a very special Star Trek fan film that went unfinished for decades. Beyond unearthing this piece of fan history, the documentary also explores a broader story of representation, resilience, and the ongoing fight for inclusion in media and society.

Coming 2025.
